If Newt can completely keep it to himself (not telling L he knows anything about him, and knowing enough about the canon to know not to tell anybody else anything about L), I might say yes. If no, would you mind if an alternate canon is mentioned? From everything Newt is likely to find out on the Moira, there wouldn't be any reason for L's world to stand out as anything like any given canon. It should seem like normal Earth. Anything else?
